As a change in its policy, ISOGEM will no longer consider membership requests from individuals, as happened in the past. Instead, Membership/Fellowship of ISOGEM shall be conferred upon deserving scientists on an honorary basis towards recognition of exceptional contribution (s) in the area of genomics and evolutionary microbiology. All nominations shall be invited subject to peer approval. Invitation to the Full Membership/Fellowship of the ISOGEM may be seen as an honor similar to election to some of the well-known learned academies. A certificate of honor to this effect shall be provided by the society to each of the successful invitees. In any situation the number of full members may not exceed 100, excluding the founding members. New members will be inducted until this number is reached and, after that, new nominations shall be invited as and when vacancies arise. All nominations shall be ratified by the Board of the society and invitations will be solely based on the career profile and publication record of the nominees.
