The ISOGEM is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious, international organisation, committed to the development of post genomic ideas in the context of better public health and the environment. It has been incorporated in Italy as a society under registration number 1617 and the social security number 92092340907 (codice fiscale). The society is legally registered in the name of Prof Leonardo A Sechi as its founder President and its headquarters situated at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Sassari, Viale San Pietro, Sassari, Italy
The society is run by scientific community in the area of genomics and evolutionary microbiology. All policies related to scholarly activities and freelancing etc are decided by the members of the society. The Administrative Council in consultation with the Advisory Board institutionalizes all the decisions and policy matters of the society through its periodic business meetings.
The Membership/Fellowship of ISOGEM shall be conferred upon eligible, qualified scientists on an honorary basis towards recognition of exceptional contribution (s) in the area of genomics and evolutionary microbiology. All nominations shall be invited subject to peer approval.
Invitation to the Full Membership/Fellowship of the ISOGEM may be seen as an honor similar to election to some of the well-known learned academies. A certificate of honor to this effect shall be provided by the society to each of the successful invitees.
In any situation the number of full members may not exceed 100, excluding the founding members. New members will be inducted until this number is reached and, after that, new nominations shall be invited as and when vacancies arise. All nominations shall be ratified by the Board of the society and invitations will be solely based on the career profile and publication record of the nominees.
All the members should be eligible to vote during the general body meeting, as and when convened, to transact business of the society and to elect new members/office-bearers of the administrative council.
